Deputy Minister speaks of electricity for all at Badulla event; says houses will light up before April New Year

Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ajith P Perera states that electricity will be provided for all, before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

He made this statement at an event held at the Badulla District Secretariat.

The Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, noted that 3000,000 poverty-ridden houses will be provided with electricity before the Sinhala Tamil New Year and four billion rupee loan has been obtained from the Divineguma Fund of the Electricity Board. Unauthorised occupants of state land will also by given electricity

” We have issued a circular to prevent distress,” he said adding that this circular will clear all doubts.

According to the Minster of Power and Renewable Enrgy the circular cites that there is no need for documents pertaning to land in order to obtain electricity

“Even if it ‘s thatched, a house with a tin roof, there is no doubt that electricty will be provided,” he said and further added that there is no reason for any Divi Neguma officer to reject this request form.
