Actor Abe Vigoda passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94.

The actors daughter confirmed the death and had said that her father died in his sleep at her home in new Jersey.

Vigoda was born in born in Brooklyn,New York and gained acting notability in the 1960’s with his work in Broadway productions, including Marat/Sade (1967) playing “Mad Animal”, The Man in the Glass Booth (1968) playing “Landau”, Inquest (1970), and Tough to Get Help (1972).

Vigoda came in to fame in 1972 when he was cast as Sal Tessio, a high-ranking made member of the crime family, alongside Corleone rises to power and prominence in the Mafia underworld.

He gained further fame playing Detective Sgt. Phil Fish on Barney Miller
