Health Ministry appoints committee to probe alleged kidney racket

The five-member committee appointed by the Ministry of Health to investigate the alleged kidney racket in the country is set to commence their investigations today, Monday, January 25.

Chairman of the Committee, Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Jayasundara Bandara said that collection of evidence to support the investigations, will commence.

Dr. Jayasundara Bandara added that an interim report on the investigations will be compiled and presented within the next three days and also stated that they intend on visiting operating theatres to gather facts first hand.

The five-member committee appointed by the Ministry of Health comprises of two deputy director generals from the Health Ministry, a senior assistant secretary, a director and a specialist doctor.
