Brave youths foil Gampola armed robbery

A group of brave youths nabbed  two suspects who had alleged tried to make off with money worth Rs. 3 million in Gampola. The money belonged to two businessmen hailing from Kalmunai.

The two were engaged in a business in Colombo and were carrying the money, hoping to purchase a van, when the group of  alleged thieves arrived in car, rammed into the vehicle the two businessmen were travelling in, and allegedly made off with the money.

Following the incident, the two businessmen and a group of youth from the area followed the car in which the thieves arrived.

The youths stated that the group of thieves were armed. However, two of the thieves were captured and handed over to the police while one of them managed to flee.
