Microsoft International President Jean-Philippe Courtois has announced that Microsoft hopes to reach a technology based accord with Sri Lanka. He had made this statement when he called on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Davos, Switzerland on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office noted that the President of Microsoft International has agreed to support the efforts to digitize the Education and Social Security sectors of Sri Lanka. The statement further noted that an agreement was reached to look into other ways in which new innovations from Microsoft could be provided to Sri Lanka freely.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also held a special discussion with N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh , India.
During the discussion it was agreed to appoint a special committee to look in to the possibility of strengthening the Religious, Cultural and Tourism ties between Andhra Pradesh and Sri Lanka.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe also met with Takehiko Nakao, the President of the Asian Development Bank on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
