A special team comprising of officials from the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission, travelled to Embilitiya on Tuesday, to carry out an investigation on the death of a youth which occurred following a clash in the area.
Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission, Attorney-at-Law Saliya Peris said that the officials had recorded accounts presented by eye witnesses, after carrying out inspections.
Commissioner Saliya Peris further noted that senior police officers in charge of the Embilitiya Police jurisdiction will be summoned to the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission on Thursday, to obtain statements.
Meanwhile, an interim report detailing the sequence of events that led to the death of the youth in Embilitiya, was presented to the Inspector General of Police by the Officer -in -charge of the Sabaragamuwa Province, senior DIG of police C.D. Wickremaratne on Tuesday.
