Today, January 8, 2016 marks the one year anniversary of President Maithripala Sirisena’s victory at the 2015 Presidential Poll.

Special religious observances were held today at the historical Kalutara Bodhiya with the attendance of President Maithripala Sirisena and a large number of ministers and parliamentarians.

Following the religious observances, President Sirisena planted a Sandalwood sapling at the premises of the Kalutara Bodhiya.

President Sirisena also participated in the ceremony of handing over of the premises of the Kalutara Bodhiya to the Board of Custodians of the Kalutara Bodhiya.

Furthermore, President Sirisena presided over an event to lay floral tributes to the Bandaranaike Statue at Galle Face Green. The event took place in line with the birth anniversary of the founder of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, S.W.R.D. Bandaraniake.
