Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera says the government has decided to release the Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody.
The minister said that a letter has been sent to the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka in this regard, adding that the High Commissioner had earlier requested the release of the Indian fishermen held in Sri Lanka.
At present, 94 Indian fishermen are being held in Sri Lanka for violating the maritime border.
