A five-wicket haul from New Zealand seamer Matt Henry and a 102 by M.J Guptill helped the black caps score a 36-run victory over Sri Lanka at Mount Maunganui to complete a 3-1 one-day international series win.
Matt Henry’s finish meant the tourists, who trailed throughout the contest at Bay Oval after asking the Black Caps to bat first, have just one victory to date from their two-test, five ODI tour, which saw one limited-overs clash abandoned due to rain.
Sri Lankan Skipper Angelo Mathews gave his side hope with 95 off 116 balls before his departure in the 46th over to Henry spelt the beginning of the end. Henry ended with 5-40 off his 10 overs as he and Martin Guptill confirmed their spots as New Zealand’s stars of the series.
