Subject of missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda was brought up once again on allegations leveled on Mahinda Rajapaksa by Sandya Ekneligoda, the wife of the missing journalist.

Leader of the Nawa Sama Samaja Party, Dr. Wickremabahu Karunaratne stated that the police have captured a group of Army officers in connection to the disappearance, which he said is why Rajapaksa is showing sudden empathy towards Army officers.

He went on to note that the former president did not have this empathy towards Sarath Fonseka. Explaining further he stated that there are several other soldiers held in other areas on suspicion.

UNP Parliamentarian Harshana Rajakaruna stated that since the former president visits prisons to see inmates, a question has arisen over whether it is because of suspicion that he has some kind of involvement.

He added that irrespective of status, politics and government officer status, they will be brought before the law equally for the crimes committed in the past.
