A group of airport employees staged a protest on Tuesday morning citing that their benefits have been slashed.

The airport employees had gathered opposite the Bandaranaike Airport to protest against the slashing of their year end bonus allowance.

The Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya, the Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya , the Inter Company Trade Union and many airport employees are taking part in the protest.

When contacted, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation , Ashok Abeysinghe said that the bonus had been slashed this time around.

He added that the reason for this was that the estimated profit was less than what was recorded last year.
