The countrywide awareness campaign on promoting the rights of women titled Empower the Woman completed day fourteen of its journey from Galle, the heart of the South.
The flood of the locals, echoed the sentiments of raising a voice on behalf of the women of the country, who render an insurmountable service towards the development of the country.
A human chain of women, echoing their voice for Empowerment was formed opposite the Galle Bus Stand.
CEO of Kevilton, Anil De Silva stated that the over 50% of the employees in his institution are women, who are committed, and that this exceptional skill set is the core reason for the development of the institution.
The News 1st team then moved to the Galle International Buddhist Centre and raised awareness on women’s rights and security.
The Empower the Women campaign which commenced from the North, engaged in campaigning activities in and around Chilaw.
Views were obtained from the women in the area for the resolution that will be prepared on behalf of them.
The News1st team then moved to the Chilaw Fish Market. The masses were made aware of the services rendered by women, for the betterment of the family unit and the country.
The campaign organized by News 1st, Sirasa and Shakthi, together with the National Youth Services Council, the Sri Lanka Police, Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government, District and Divisional Secretariats.
