Government and semi-government trade unions in the private sector say that they will engage in a token strike on Tuesday with a participation of 150 persons.
The co-convener Saman Rathnapriya said 50 trade unions from the railway sector will be participating.
He said that the railways and bus unions will commence the strike at midnight todaym adding that the government still has an opportunity to provide solutions for their demands.
However, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is due to make a statement regarding the demands of the trade unions in parliament today.
