CAA imposes maximum retail price for six products

The Consumer Affairs Authority has imposed a maximum retail price for six items.The authority will, thereby, take legal action if the items are sold above the imposed maximum price.

The maximum retail price of a kilogramme of a broiler chicken will be at Rs.480, under the new price revisions by the consumer affairs authority. A kilogramme of dried fish will be sold at Rs.410 rupees and a kilogramme of (lentils)  dhal will be sold at Rs.169.

The maximum retail price of a kilo of queen dry fish will be Rs.1100 rupees while the maximum retail price of salaya dry fish will be Rs.425 rupees. A price of a kilogram of chick peas will be Rs.169.

The Consumer Affairs Authority says that producers, importers, distributes or sellers could be charged if products in packages or containers are sold for a sum of Rs. 5  over the maximum stipulated price.
