President Maithripala Sirisena, speaking in Parliament on Monday December 07, commented on the resettlement of persons.
President Sirisena stated that immediate decisions must be taken to prevent deforestation with regard to the resettlement process, which was made several months ago.
He went on to note that he will call a meeting this week, invite MPs and provide facilities to travel to the North with respective officials.
He added that he will visit areas and make observations along with the representative that he appoints and submit a report within the next two weeks, with regard to resettlement as they will review the process and prepare a programme.
Explaining further, he added that if there is illegal felling of trees, sand-mining, gem-mining, the law will be strictly enforced against such persons casing aside their positions and party affiliations.
