Leader of the National Unity Front Azad Sally convened a media briefing on Tuesday, December 08.
Leader of the National Unity Front, Azad Sally stated that the former seretary of defence had noted that releasing LTTE suspects undermines national security, and that it needs to be stopped immediately.
He added that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has noted that the government does this because the people in the North had voted for President Sirisena during the elections.
He went on to note that in 2005, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the Rajapaksa family sent a lot of money to the LTTE, asking them not to vote for Ranil as bomb-makers were brought to Colombo and given ministerial portfolios during the Rajapaksa Government.
Explaining further, he stated that if suspected persons with links to the LTTE were arrested back then, and if cases were filed; at present those cased would have been closed and the culprits would have been punished or released which is very reason they had asked that LTTE suspects be released.
He further stated that millions of funds spent by the Rajapaksas have been reduced, as a peaceful environment has been created to keep all communities together, which has made them jealous.
