A rally to raise awareness for World AIDS Day celebrations were held in Colombo on Saturday.

MTV/MBC was the media sponsor for the event. A number of persons including, the UN resident representative in Sri Lanka, Subinay Nandy and the German Ambassador in Sri Lanka Dr. Jurgen Morhard were present at the event.

UNAIDS Country Manager, Dr. Dayanath Ranatunge speaking at the event stated:

The test today is the message for World AIDS Day – simply because only 50 percent of the people who are living with HIV have been tested for HIV. So, we encourage all nations to be, a little bit vigilant and get yourself tested because HIV testing is provided free of charge, respecting your confidentiality, by a professional group at every government hospital.

So, I should take this opportunity to really thank MBC media network for the great support that they extended as media partner.

The car rally which commenced from Independence Square , arrived at its final stop, the Galle Face Green, subsequent to rallying through Borella and Nugegoda.
