All private bus services operating from Avisawella to Colombo through the old road have stopped plying along the route in question.

Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus Owner’s Association, Gemunu Wijeratne said the private buses operating on the old road from Avisawella – Pettah, Hanwella – Pettah, Kaduwela – Pettah and Labugama – Pettah have stopped operating on the bus routes in this manner.

Wijeratne stated that this situation has been attributed to the threats leveled by the Sri Lanka Transport Board buses operating in the Meethotumulla bus depot.
