Western Provincial Councillor, Susil Kindelpitiya withdrew the motion of no-confidence that he made against the Provincial Minister Lalith Wanigaratne, following the termination of the Chairman of the Provincial Passenger Transport Authority and the Provincial Road Development Authority.
A motion of no-confidence was presented against Lalith Wanigaratne , the Provincial Minister for Road Development, Transport, Co-operative Development and Trade for appointing persons charged with corruption for the positions of chairmen to the Provincial Passenger Transport Authority and the Provincial Road Development Authority.
Western Provincial Councillor, Susil Kindelpitiya stated that a promise has been made to remove both chairmen.
He added that the minister had made a promise in writing and that therefore, he will withdraw from the motion of no-confidence.
JVP Western Provincial Councillor, Lakshman Nipunarachchi stated that the no-confidence motion will not be made void by the removal of just two persons.
Chairman of the Western Provincial Council, Sunil Wijeratne stated that there is no reason for them to debate the motion since Susil Kidelpitiya had made a statement to the chamber.
He went on to note that the motion of no-confidence has been made void.
Western Provincial Councilor, Susil Kindelpitiya noted that they didn’t appoint the government of good governance to destroy state institutions through corrupt and tainted persons.
