Saman Jayalath, the chief suspect in the killing of Seya Sadewmi in Kotadeniyawa, was further remanded till December 7 after the case was taken up before Minuwangoda Chief Magistrate D.A. Ruwan Pathirana.
It was revealed in court that the Chief Judicial Medical Officer had recommended that the suspect be directed to a psychiatrist.
Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered the Superintendent of the Negombo Prison to direct the the suspect to the physician at the Colombo High Court.
No attorney appeared on behalf of the suspect.
Seya Sadewmi was kidnapped on September 11 while she asleep at home. Her body later was found in a paddy field in Akarangaha, Kotadeniyawa.
