Two of the political prisoners who were released several days ago, convened a media briefing in Jaffna on Sunday, November 15.

Freed political prisoner Veerasingham Sulakshan, speaking at the press briefing, said that the political leadership has never unveiled what they said. And Tamil parliamentarians censored what they said when speaking to the media.

He added that for 67 years these governments have deceived them, and in terms of securing the release of political prisoners, the TNA must be pro-active and must not limit itself to simply issuing media statements.

Four of the political prisoners who are engaged in the current eight-day long hunger strike, were admitted to the Welikada Prison Hospital on Sunday.

Speaking to News1st, the Commissioner General of Prisons, Rohana Pushpakumara, said their condition is not critical.
