The CID says that the investigations over the weapons found aboard the Avant Garde vessel anchored in Galle have concluded.
The Criminal Investigation Deaprtment said that 816 weapons were subject to the investigation.
The statement that was made by Minister of Law and Order and Prison Reforms Tilak Marapana in Parliament when the Avant Garde issue was a spoken of today.
News 1st questioned the Police Media Spokesperson on the allegations levelled at the police by the subject minister.
Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that the Avant Garde vessel was seized by the Navy and was then handed over to them. He added that the minister may have commented on the advice provided by the Attorney General.
ASP Gunasekara noted that the Police must score points from the general public and that there is not other option
Several political parties commented on the statement made by the Minister of Law and Order and Prison Reforms over the Avant Garde issue.
