Minister S.B. Dissanayake who was the former Minister of Higher Education, was questioned on the allegations, where certain persons in the former government obstructed the process of resolving the issue of the HNDA students.

Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare Minister, S.B. Dissanayake stated that he made the necessary provisions for all children enrolled for the diploma at the Institute of Advanced Technological Education, to follow a special one year course in order to complete their degree, after completing their diploma.

He went on to note that thereafter he had no involvement with the circular in question.

Minister S.B. Dissanayake: There were a number of views expressed on the matter including the cabinet. However, it was approved. None of them who held placards before, uttered a word on that day.
