Sri Lanka President Maithripala Srisena met Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Monday November 2, during his four-day official visit to Thailand.
Both leaders observed the guard of honour on Monday morning, before sitting down for bilateral talks.
President Srisena’s visit, at the invitation of Premier Prayut, aims to enhance bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka in areas of economics, politics, culture and religion, as well as boost tourism, a Thai government press release said.
Both countries will also be celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year, the press release added.
The Sri Lankan president arrived in Thailand on Sunday November 1 and will be leaving the country on Wednesday November 4, Thailand’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
