Five Indian fisherman were taken into custody on Sunday morning for  allegedly violating the maritime boundaries.

According to the Fisheries Department, the fisherman were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy close to the Talaimannar maritime boundary.

The fishing vessel belonging to them was also seized by the Sri Lanka Navy. The Department added that the fisherman, will thereafter be produced before courts.
