A sixteen-year-old school boy had to undergo surgery at the Colombo National Hospital after a wooden stick had pierced through his neck after falling off a tree in Bulathsinhala. Relatives of the boy stated that the incident took place at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27 when the child fell off a mango tree in a paddy field situated close to the boy’s house.
The brother of the victim stated that the victim had climbed the mango tree in order to pluck some fruits and thereafter had fallen down as a piece of wood had pierced through his neck. The brother had then made a call and rushed him to the hospital.
The boy who admitted to the Bulathsinhala District Hospital, with the assistance of the locals in the area, was later transferred to the Horana Base Hospital.
According to our correspondent, the child was thereafter transferred to the Colombo National Hospital. Director of the National Hospital Dr. Anil Jasinghe stated that a team of doctors at the hospital are engaged in an effort to save the child’s life.
