The Department of Meteorology says that a low atmospheric turbulence is developing in the seas to the Southeast of the country.
The department adds that heavy rains could be expected in the coming days.The Inter-monsoon rains are affecting many parts of Sri Lanka, resulting thundershowers.
Gale winds were experienced in Colombo on Saturday evening. The Department of Meteorology says that Gale winds can be experienced during this inter-monsoon season.
It adds that thundershowers accompanied by Gale winds will be experienced in a limited area during short period of time. Meanwhile, vegetable farmers in the Central Hills have been severely affected by the prevalant weather.
Farmers from Bandarawela and Welimada are the most affected as they say that the leeks cultivations were destroyed. Vegetable cultivation in Badulla too were badly affected.
