The Department of Meteorology says that the atmospheric disturbance still persists to the East of Sri Lanka.

The department predicts showers or thundershowers at times in the Eastern and Northern provinces and in the Hambantota district. Fairly heavy falls or more than 75 mm are also likely at some places. It is predicted that thundershowers are likely to occur at most places elsewhere after 02.00 p.m.

There may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers. The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity.
