Barcelona eased passed BATE Borisov to head to the top of group E by three points. It was Ivan Rakitic who bagged the two goals for Barcelona, coming in to the game during the 18th minute following an injured Sergi Roberto.
Even without injured Lionel Messi, Luis Enrique’s side created multiple chances but goal keeper Sergey Chernik kept them at bay, till Rakitic managed to hit the net off an assist by Neymar to score his first goal since the UEFA cup finals last year and followed suit shortly when he bagged his second goal which was also assisted by Neymar.
Arsenal managed to out do Bayern Munich to keep their Champions League hopes alive. The Gunners lead came during the second half of the game at Emirates when Oliver Giroud headed in and assist by Santiago Carzola following set piece cross.
It was the former Bayern player who cemented the lead for Arsenal when he found the back of the net with left footed shot from the left side of the six yard box to the centre of the goal.
