Dunesh Priyashantha alias Kondaya who was a suspect in the Seya Sadewmi homicide and later acquitted was produced before the Attanagalla Magistrate Court on Tuesday, as he had failed to appear in court as a witness over a separate case
A complaint was lodged with the Human Rights Commission on Tuesday stating that the rights of Dunesh Priyashantha has been violated.
Attorney Udul Premaratne stated that if there was any assistance or if he had committed the crime with his brother, charges need to be filed on aiding and abetting the murder. However, he was released without any charge.
He further questioned:
What will be said about the statement that he had signed?
He went on to state that the people need to be held accountable and that the CID and the police had acted based on their own accord
But this cannot happen and that is why we filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission
