President lauds service rendered SL Air Force event in Trincomalee

President Maithripala Sirisena, at an event held at the SLAF base in China Harbour, Trincomalee stated the service rendered by the Sri Lanka Air Force, to national security over the past several decades, cannot be underestimated.

President Sirisena commissioned 46 male and female cadet officers of  Batch Number 55 and Number 7 respectively and also pinned Flying Official Badges to eight officers of 83rd Flying Cadet Officer Course.

Five hundred and ninety four (594) airmen and airwomen who successfully completed the courses of permanent junior airmen of Batch number 161 and permanent junior airwomen of Batch Number 31, graduated at this occasion.

The President added that the service rendered by the Air Force to defeat the LTTE terrorists, cannot be underestimated in any way. The President also stated that “the Air Force services are of the highest quality and standard and we applaud this.”

He further noted that it is very important at such occasions, to remember the great war heroes who were killed in battle, those who were disabled, their parents and families as well as all personnel from the tri-forces who laid down their lives and limbs, deserve this respect.

The SLAF put on an aerial exhibition at the event which was also made heightened by performances by the Air Force band and drill squad.
