News 1st had undertaken an initiative aimed to ensure the protection of children, and build them a better future.

This countrywide awareness campaign organised by News 1st together with the Ministry of Law and Order and Prison Reform entered its thirteenth day on Saturday.

The campaign For the Happiness of our Children commenced on Saturday morning with a street play from Mawanella. People from different walks of life, who have understood the importance of protecting children, joined hands with News 1st today as well.

Some who were en route to engage in their other activities, took time off their work and joined with the campaign to show their solidarity to ensure the protection of the children.

The campaign took place at the Mawanella Public Fair today with the participation of government officers, volunteers and many who understood the need to protect children.

Without limiting itself to the towns and the cities, the campaign also moved in to the villages raising awareness on the topic of child protection.

Locals from Mawana and Kottawatte in Mawanella rendered their support to this campaign when it reached their villages.
