The three customs officers who were arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 125 million were produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya on Friday October 16 and were remanded till October 30.

The suspects were produced before the magistrate by Director General of the Bribery Commission Dilrukshi Dias Wickremesinghe.

Even-though a large number of lawyers appeared on behalf of the suspects, none of them requested the court to grant bail.

The magistrate informed that the decision on whether or not the suspects will be placed in a prison, and if so, which prison, would be announced later.
