Thirty two people have been killed by Israeli forces after the army deployed six companies on Wednesday.
The move by the Israeli cabinet marks the first implementation of measures to counter the attacks that have been rising dramatically over the past few days.
The most recent encounter has left two Palestinians shot dead by the Israeli forces following the fourteen days of violence.
Israeli police opened fire on a young Palestinian on Wednesday afternoon at the entrance of the Damascus gate in Jerusalam. The Police claimed that the young man attempted to stab a police officer when they approached him for a security search.
Steps approved include allowing police to seal off Palestinian neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem.
Since October 1, dozens of Palestinians have been killed in shootings and clashes with Israeli forces in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel , while seven Israelis have been killed in knife and gun attacks.
