Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has been summoned to meet the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges.
Secretary to the Commission Lacille de Silva said, the former president Rajapaksa was summoned in connection investigations into the non-payment of bills owed to the Independent Television Network, for propaganda broadcast in favour of the former president during the last presidential election.
Five individuals, including the former president have been summoned before the commission at 9 Thursday morning, to also provide statements over the lack of publicity given for president Maithripala Sirisena’s advertising campaigns.
Lacille de silva said, the individuals include former United People’s Freedom Alliance, General Secretary Susil Premajayantha, former ITN chairman Anura Siriwardena, and former minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
