Game of Thrones star Jonathan Pryce has stated that he was asked to do the first season, but he didn’t even read the script.

“I thought this wasn’t for me,” he explained. The actor joined season five as High Sparrow, the leader of a fundamentalist religious sect called the Sparrows.

“The character was so strong and everyone had already taken the risks and made it into a great big hit anyway so I was very happy to join it.” “I’m having a great time doing it,” he added.

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably already guessing what part producers wanted Jonathan to play in season one.

Game of Thrones has been a massive success since it launched in 2011. In Britain alone, 1.7 million viewers watched the series five finale on Sky Atlantic. Last month, it won a record-breaking 12 Emmy awards.

The smash hit fantasy series is currently filming season six, with HBO considering two more and possibly a prequel. Jonathan said that all the speculation and leaks about the new series doesn’t annoy him. “It’s great fun and I’m glad that people have that amount of interest. “It’s always fun avoiding questions when people try to trick you into saying something.
