The first flag printed for International White Cane Day was pinned on President Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday, October 8 morning.
The country-wide campaign commenced at the President’s official residence.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Council of Visually Handicapped Graduates Sugath Wasantha pinned the first flag on President Maithripala Sirisena.
Secretary of the Sri Lanka Council of Visually Handicapped Graduates, Nuwan Indika, presented a letter to the President which included the issues faced by visually handicapped persons.
President Sirisena also presented a white cane to the Secretary of the Council to mark International White Cane day and a cash donation to the Council Fund.
