Test reveals DNA mismatch in Seya Sadewmi Murder case

It was revealed that the DNA samples of Dunesh Priyashantha alias Kondaya who was arrested over the rape and murder of Seya Sadewmi does not match with the DNA obtained from the the body the victim. The Criminal Investigations Department informed court that the mismatch was confirmed by GeneTech.

The announcement was made in open court by Minuwangoda Magistrate D.A.Ruwan Pathirana. The DNA samples of Dunesh Priyashanthat alias Kondaya who was the chief suspect in the Seya Sadewmi Homicide was obtained on September 28.

Recently, the CID informed court that the elder brother of Kondaya, identified as Saman Jayalath had confessed to the murder was also directed to GeneTech to obtain samples to carry out a DNA test.

The report is to be produced before the Minuwangoda Magistrate in the future.

The 17-year-old school boy Priyanjan and Kelum Attanayake who were arrested over the Seya Sadewmi murder and later acquitted, filed a complaint with the Police Headquarters on October 2.

They made the complaints seeking that the IGP to commence an investigation over the alleged assault carried against them by the Kotadeniyawa Police. The Inspector General of Police had ordered for an interim report to be produced on Wednesday, over the investigations.

According the Police Media Spokesperson, the interim report would be submitted on Wednesday evening.
