The 199th edition of the News 1st Classroom – a programme which is conducted to improve media literacy of today’s children was held in Colombo on Wednesday.
The News 1st Classroom, a programme which had been a great success in many schools across towns and villages held its 199th edition at Isipathana College, in Colombo.
The occassion was attended by Directress of the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited Shanthi Bhagirathan and other officials. Students also got the opportunity to take part in voice tests that were conducted by Y FM.
Group Director of The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited, Shanthi Bhagirathan stated:
News 1st in this instance, is very happy to be taking this programme islandwide, and also the brand Y FM is not far from you all.
You know that it is a youth brand, and we do programmes that is more with young people, and also aligning with things which are very good for the country, good for us and good for progress.
She went on to note that this programme is something that “we all like doing and the team is very excited when we do these programmes.”
The programme included a variety of activities that provided students with a better understanding about communication.
Principal of Isipathana College, Premasiri Epa speaking on the occasion said:
I am amused by how this workshop is being conducted because these series of workshops which have now come to an end, have attracted the hearts of many students, which I believe is a great technological feat, and is something we can learn from.
