Facebook is spicing up profile photos in a big way now by simply introducing some big and amazing changes to user profiles, which are viewed 4 billion times per day.
Facebook users will now be able to record a 7 seconds short looping video, a bit like a Vine or a GIF, to use as their profile photo on mobile.
Facebook is also adding the ability for users to set a temporary profile photo that will expire and revert to their usual one at a specific time.
Together, these changes should make Facebook more visually stimulating and addicting. As other networks like Twitter introduce auto-play video like Facebook did, and Snapchat adds animated selfie lenses and its own profile GIFs, Facebook has to stay a step ahead in the graphic arms race.
