SL marks International Children’s Day; Deaf and Blind School children invited to Stein Studios

International Children’s Day, which is marked today, October 1,  was celebrated in Sri Lanka under the theme A Benevolent Land that Dazzles the World with a Child Friendly environment.

The national event held to mark the day was held under the auspices of  Minister of Women and Child Affairs Chandrani Bandara, also saw the participation of the State Minister of Child Affairs Wijayakala Maheshwaran and the Deputy Indian High Commissioner A. Nadarajan.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs Chandrani Bandara stated that individuals must act with great responsibility when arresting children on suspicion, thinking of the future of the children and protect them until they are proven as suspects.

Meanwhile, an event was held in line with International Children’s Day at Stein Studios, Ratmalana today with the participation of the students from the Ratmalana School for the Deaf and Blind.

Speaking at the event, Channel Head of Sirasa TV Chandana Sooriyabandara stated that the opportunity has arisen for the media to be committed towards ensuring the safety and future of the country’s children.
