The first two suspects in the case of the murder of Seya Sadewmi, who were arrested, have been acquitted after they were produced before the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
They were produced before court upon a request made by the CID.
It was revealed on Thursday morning that the DNA samples from the suspects, the 17-year-old boy and the father of one, did not match the DNA obtained from the crime scene.
The magistrate ordered the prison officials to produce the suspects in court in order to facilitate their release.
When the suspects were produced, the CID informed court that as the DNA evidence is not compatible and that no other evidence lies against them.
