Suspect in Panagoda child killing hospitalised

The suspect in the murder of a ten-year-old boy in Panagoda, was injured when he fell off a rock on Saturday, while accompanying the police to collect evidence.

The police say that the suspect slipped on a rock and fell while he was accompanied by several officers to Kapurugoda in Panagoda at about 4.30 a.m. on Saturday in a search for evidence.The injured suspect was first admitted to the Homagama hospital.

Homagama Magistrate Y.R.D. Nelumdeniya visited the hospital and remanded the suspect until  October 7. The suspect was transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo this afternoon.

Meanwhile, residents of Kotadeniyawa convened a media briefing on Saturday to comment on the spate of child murders that have taken place since the murder of Seya Sadewmi in their village.

A special prayer was held near St. Anne’s Church in Pilapitiya, Kelaniya this morning, for children who have been victims of abuse and murder.
