President Maithripala Sirisena is due to meet the heads of state of a number of countries for discussions on Saturday on the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly in New York.
Accordingly, President Sirisena will meet the President of Switzerland, Simonetta Sommaruga for bilateral discussions today. He is also due to meet the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a special discussion.
The Presidential Media Unit said that the president will have a meeting with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer.
President Maithripala Sirisena has also been invited for a banquet hosted by the President of South Africa Jacob Zuma which is the host country for the next session of the UN General Assembly.The 70th United Nations General Assembly session began on Friday at the UN headquarters in New York city .
The Sustainable Development Summit marked the beginning of the 2015 session after the keynote by His Holiness the Pope . President Maithripala Sirisena is due to address the session tomorrow.
