Investigations into killing of little Seya continue; protests held countrywide

Police are continuing several interrogations as investigations into the brutal murder of Seya Sadewmi in Kotadeniyawa, continue.

In latest developments, police are examining the computer that may have been used by a possible suspect.

News1st has been closely monitoring developments in investigations into the death of the four year old.

We were able to capture footage as the child’s mother and father were leaving after being questioned by the police on Sunday.

The father of the child, speaking to media said that the CID called them for an interrogation at 9 a.m. on Sunday, adding that they ask the President and the IGP to arrest the criminals as soon as possible.

Following the brutal rape and murder of the toddler, there has been a growing clamour for the re-introduction of the death penalty for such criminal acts.

This has also given cause to much unrest among the people.

People of Kuliyapitiya made a plea to the Gods at the Kataragama Temple.

A number of protests were staged countrywide urging that the details of the murderers be revealed and the capital punishment be implemented.

Demonstrators gathered at Independence Square in Colombo  on Sunday, holding white balloons, to protest crimes against children and child abuse.
