Ten new ministers have been appointed to the Western and North Western Provincial Councils. The new ministers were sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena on September 14.
Chief Minister of the Western Province Isura Devapriya was sworn in as Provincial Minister of Finance and Planning, Engineering services, Law and Order and Local Government and Local Administration.
In addition, the Chief Minister is also vested with Economic Affairs, Power and Energy, Environment, Water Supply and Tourism.
Ranjith Somawansha was sworn in as Provincial Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Youth Affairs and Information Technology.
Gamini Thilakasiri was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Land, Irrigation, Livestock and Farming Development.
Lalith Wanigarathne was sworn in as the Minister in charge of Fisheries, Transport, Co-operative Development, Housing and Construction, Infrastruture, Industries and Rural Development.
Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe was sworn in as Minister of Health, Indigenous Medicine, Social Welfare, Probationary and Child Protection and Women’s Affairs.
Meanwhile, North Western Province Chief Minister Dharmasiri Dassanayake was sworn in as the Provinical Minister in charge of ten subjects including Finance and planning, Engineering services, Law and Order and Local Government and local Administration.
Gunadasa Dehigama was sworn in as Provincial Minister of Transport, Co-operatives, Trade, Housing and Rural Development.
Samantha Kumara was appointed Provincial Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.
Lakshman Harischandra Vedaruwa was sworn in as provincial Minister of Indigenous Medicine, Social Welfare, Probationary and Child Protection.
W.J. Sumal Thissera was appointed as provincial Minister of Land, Irrigation, Fisheries and Farming Development.
