Addressing a media briefing convened by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, the party’s Propaganda Secretary MP Vijitha Herath criticised the coalition government.

MP Vijitha Herath questioned that after forming this coalition government, what is the consensus they have reached – and that is to cover up each other’s allegations – and the moment this coalition was formed, from this side, the case against the former central bank governor was withdrawn terminated, while from the other side, the case filed against the current Central Bank governor was also withdrawn. He said, ‘and then there is the case against Avant Garde Security Services which has a serious amount of allegations against it.”

He further added:

However right from the beginning we saw that there were attempts by some prominent members of the government to sweep this under the carpet and now it is clear that they have. This is the consensus they have reached and we are waiting to see if the newly-appointed Minister of Transport Nimal Siripala de Silva will file a case against the UPFA where they caused a loss of rupees to draw a crowd to one of its rallies.

He further noted:

KP was arrested overseas and at that time when he was brought back, the Secretary of Defence back then, publicly said that the last LTTE leader has also been arrested and that they have obtained information about the large amount of gold and money that he possesses. However the people of this country has not received any information about this.
