A weekend newspaper, The Ceylon Independent says that the issue surrounding the removal of the Governor of the Central bank has been swept under the carpet.
The paper notes that certan MPs who were in the opposition during the 100-day government are silent now with regard to this issue.
The Ceylon Independent says that the silence on the matter of expelling governor of Central Bank Arjuna Mahendran for the allegation of insider trading pertaining to the Treasury bond issue, is seemingly apprehensive.
It adds that those of who called for Mahendran’s removal from the post of governor have now been appointed as cabinet ministers. The Ceylon Independent adds further that a group of opposition members protested outside the Central Bank on March 18, 2015 against the matter.
On a concluding note, the paper questions that whether these individuals are being silenced forever or whether some form of action can be expected from those who were fully committed to cripple the 100-day government?
