With the increase of rainfall in the country, several areas have been classified as high-risk Dengue zones. The areas of Wattala, Ja-ela and Gampaha have been classified high risk zones.
The Ministry of Health declared seven days, commencing today, as the “Dengue Eradication Week”.
Thereby, several Dengue eradication programmes will take place from today within the Gampaha Medical officers Division, which is considered one of the high risk zones. Gampaha MOH Nilangi Subasekara stated that the public will be made aware of the methods of dengue eradication and that inspections will also be conducted.
She went on to note that this special programme will be carried out by the Dengue Eradication Unit along with the assistance of the Police, Army, Provincial Councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas.
