A team comprising of a deputy director has been appointed to carry out an investigation into the death of Priyantha Ratnayake who was working as a U-Reporter, after being killed by a wild elephant in Samagipura, Minneriya.
Director General of Wildlife H.D. Ratnayake said that they visited Minneriya on Tuesday night.
He said that they will investigate to identify if neccessary measures were taken by the wildlife officials to chase the wild elephant.
The wild elephant who stormed into the village was chased back into the wild after a joint effort by the Wildlife Officers in Minneriya and the police.
